The Weston Art Guild Presents “Expression through Images” a juried art exhibit at the Weston Branch Library, 4205 Bonaventure Blvd., Weston, Fl. 33332. The exhibit will be up from Friday, March 2nd thru Saturday, April 28, 2012.
The Weston Art Guild artists will take you on their private art journey as they express themselves through images in this exhibit. There will be 45 pieces of art from 28 different artists. Each artist will tell their story through images unique to that artist. Since the artists come from many areas of the country, you will also see influences from those areas.
All of the artwork will be original. No previously seen work. No prints, except for photography. The artworks are done in various mediums - oil, acrylic, watercolor, fabric and photography. The subjects are as varied as the art. Realistic, abstract and collage are all represented in this exhibit. The artists are very accomplished and the work is a must see.
Come see how these very creative artists have expressed themselves and meet the artists at the reception on Wednesday, March 14th, 6-7:30pm, at the Weston Branch Library in the Multi-media Room. The public is invited and it is free of charge. The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours. The art will hang in the multi-media room and in the library. For further info: 954-384-1822.

Quotes:
“The artists will be exhibiting their best new works of art as this exhibit is judged for awards. The art guild will give out 8 awards the night of the reception. The artworks that won the awards will be marked with the award it won. It will also be the first time the winners find out they have received an award. It makes the reception exciting. Our artists get better every year and our exhibits reflect this. Every venue that we have had an exhibit in recently, the person in charge of the venue was absolutely thrilled with the professional quality of the work.” – Joyce Albrecht

Sept.26th it all begins again......
The Weston Art Guild will be starting its 6th season this September. Our next meeting is Sept. 26, 2011. Weston and Greater Weston artists are invited to join us.
This season the members will be showing their work at the Weston Branch Library the months of March and April 2012. The artists will show around 40 to 50 pieces of very creative original work throughout the library on the new library hanging system. The work will be judged for awards, which will be given out the night of the reception. The public is invited to attend the reception at the library on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 6:30pm-7:30pm, in the Media Room.
The highlight of our monthly meeting is the hour demo given by a different artist demonstrating a different technique at each meeting. Most of the artists we bring in to give the demos, teach workshops throughout South Florida, and some give workshops in other states. The purpose of the demos is to give the members exposure to other artists’ techniques. It helps the members to get out of their studios, meet the artists in their community and see what other artists are creating.
This season we have excellent demos scheduled. An artists will demo a collage technique, a fabric artists will show how to make a fine art fabric wall hanging, another artist will show how stained glass pieces are made, another will paint a watercolor, another will paint an oil painting of either a sports figure or an animal, wire art on various items, such as glasses or baskets will be demonstrated, and many other demos. This should be an interesting season.
The Guild, also, has three exhibits a season for the artists to display their work. We show in Weston and in surrounding cities – Sunrise Civic Center Gallery, Pembroke Pines Glass Gallery and the Coral Springs Museum of Art. We have provided the art for the Arts Council of Greater Weston when they had the Wonderful World of Weston at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure Hotel and before that the art exhibit at the Northern Trust Bank.
The Weston Art Guild meets once a month, except for June, July and August, at Rick Case Hyundai (Upstairs) on 3550 Weston Road (Corner Weston Rd and So Post Rd)at 7pm until 9pm, the last Monday of the month. Our next meeting is Sept. 26, 2011. You may come to the meeting as a guest before joining. The dues are $35 a year and this includes entering the exhibits at no charge.
